Life in Transition; Myanmar

2014.4.1 (tue) – 4.6 (sun)

Open 12:00 – 19:00

After almost four decades of self-imposed isolation, in 2010, Myanmar (Burma), a multi-ethnic country with long history, has peacefully reopened to the world. The transitional movement was evident with a ceasefire agreement and followed by a general election. Since then, Myanmar became world news in almost all aspects, and the outside world has been willing and eager to participate in the turbulent transitional flow of Myanmar.
“Life in-transition” is an observatory photography work of Myanmar’s people during this dynamic period. The photographer, Ornin Ruangwattanasuk, have had multiple visits to Mynmar during 2011-2013. The photographs were taken in many parts of Myanmar from the North to the South, from the city street to the backyard in a small village. The body of work reveals the life of ordinary Myanmar’s people in the powerful photographic art, partial documentary and partial artistic work. The photographer expresses her talent on “quickness and refinement”. The majority of the works are Black and White images, 35mm format, full of texture and gritty grain.
